June Screening!
For our June screening, we will be showing the brilliant and rarely screened Travolta et Moi (68 Minutes). Made as part of ARTE’s legendary Tous les garçons et les filles de leur âge series - a project that also launched landmark works by Claire Denis and Olivier Assayas - Travolta et Moi follows a teenage girl in late-1970s France whose obsession with John Travolta collides with the messy realities of first love. Set to an irresistible soundtrack of Bee Gees, Earth, Wind & Fire, and The Clash, the film is one of the all time great depictions of adolescent longing.
Because the anthology series relied heavily on licensed popular music, the films have rarely been screened outside France and have remained largely inaccessible for years. Opportunities to see Travolta et Moi are exceptionally uncommon, making this a rare chance to experience the film as it was meant to be seen: on the big screen, with an audience.
Admission free of charge, afterparty to follow at 8:30 with music by DJ Kyle Kyle!
